COLLEGE BUILDING

Jay Bhavanigad Vikas Pratishthan’s Vidya Niketan College of Pharmacy, Lakhewadi was established in 2019 with 100 intake capacity for B. Pharmacy course and 60 Intake for D. Pharmacy Course . The institute has adequate facilities as per the requirement of AICTE, PCI and D.B.A.T. University and MSBTE. The institute has total 3 floors with build-up area 7320.38 Square Meter located at JBVP campus, Lakhewadi, Indapur, Dist. Pune 413103

Centralized Museum

Centralized museum is constructed at the ground floor of institute for display of models and information on various aspects of pharmacy. Marketed drug formulations such as tablets, liquid dosage forms, ointments, capsules, powder, nasal spray, cosmetics, anatomy models, glassware miniatures are displayed in museum, so that students, faculty, parents and visitors and all the stake holders can refer /see these informative displayed contents.

Administration Area

Administrative area is designed at ground floor of the institute for easy accessing of students and outside persons. Administrative sections are well designed with enough working space. Separate section is given as per the functioning such as principal cabin, reception area, waiting area, inquiry section, account and finance.

Digital Classrooms

Total 6 classrooms are available for conducting the D.Pharmacy and B.Pharmacy classes. The classrooms are well equipped with audio-video teaching aids viz. black board, Digital smart board, Liquid crystal display projector and Over Head Projectors to meet the state of the art infrastructure teaching facilities of the modern educational facilities. All the Classrooms have comfortable seating arrangement.

Seminal Hall

Seminar hall helps to gather all the students, faculty and corporate personalities under one roof. It provides the stage to show the skills of art and management. The seminar hall has sitting capacity of approx 500 people. Most of the academic and cultural events of the college are conducted in the seminar hall. Seminar hall is equipped with Audio-Visual and other ICT facilities for smooth conduct of the activities.

Laboratories

Institute has constructed 13 laboratories which are divided into 4 different departments for D.Pharmacy and B.Pharmacy students. All laboratories of respective departments are equipped with modern facilities and instrumentations for conducting the regular practical of B. Pharmacy as per the curriculum design by D.B.A.T. University and to carry out the research work undertaken by UG, students. Fire extinguishers are available in all laboratories and corridors for safety purpose. Exhaust fans are fitted in order to ensure adequate ventilation in laboratory.

1. PHARMACEUTICS DEPARTMENT

Pharmaceutics is the discipline of pharmacy that deals with the practical aspects of manufacturing, formulation and evaluation of various pharmaceutical dosage forms. The subject also helps the students to acquire knowledge and skill to apply quality assurance principles, including legal and ethical aspects involving drugs, delivering a quality assured product as per the pharmacopoeia, WHO and ISO standards. The pharmaceutics department has a Pharmaceutics Laboratory I (Dispensing and Formulation Labs), Pharmaceutics Laboratory II (Unit Operation Lab), and Pharmaceutics Laboratory III (Micro biology Lab). The Microbiology Laboratory is built with an insight into the biotechnology industry with instruments like B.O.D. incubator, aseptic room with laminar air flow cabinet and U.V. cabinet, deep freezer, digital oven, incubators, bacterial colony counter and autoclaves and well designed aseptic area as per standard guidelines.

2. PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT

The department of pharmaceutical chemistry is one of the important branches in the pharmacy. It is equipped with state of the art facilities to undertake academics in Bachelor of Pharmacy course. Pharmaceutical Chemistry Labs are well equipped with latest instruments to impart practical training to the students. The department has a Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab I (Inorganic / Organic Chemistry Lab), Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab II (Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab), Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratory III and central instrumental laboratory. These well furnished laboratories provide facilities for practical training in pharmaceutical medicinal chemistry, synthesis and structural elucidation of medicinally important compounds, practical training is also offered in organic chemistry with well designed experiments. The experiments aimed separation and identification of inorganic and organic mixture are also carried out in this lab. The pharmaceutical chemistry lab is well ventilated and exhausted

3. PHARMACOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Pharmacology deals with the basic knowledge of human anatomy, animal handling, scientific information regarding pharmacology of drugs, practical aspects of pharmacological screening for various medicinal agents using the animal model for pharmacology calculations, biological standardization, and in-vivo drug interactions and toxicity studies .The Department has a Pharamcology lab-1 (APHE Laboratory ) and Pharmacology Lab-2. Various minor experiments like Blood Group Detection, Haemoglobin Determination, W.B.C and R.B.C. counting, determination of Blood Pressure are conducted. Students will also acquire knowledge about health education and first aid in case of emergency. The advanced pharmacology laboratory is specially designed to carry out animal model experiments for analgesic, antihistaminic, antipyretic, anti-hepatotoxic, anti-ulcer, anti-inflammatory activity testing of known and new drugs of chemical and herbal origin.

4. PHARMACOGNOSY DEPARTMENT

Pharmacognosy lab provides adequate facilities for morphological and microscopical studies of cells and tissues in different parts like root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit and seed of natural plants, identification and standardization of crude drugs. This lab provide an opportunity for the students to gain the knowledge of physicochemical properties of the natural products and natural medications also the identification tests, extraction, isolation, detection, determination and the estimation of natural products, quantitative and qualitative analysis of drugs and phytoconstituents extracted from medicinal plants.

5. MACHINE ROOM

The machine room equipped with most advanced instruments and machinery used in manufacturing of tablets, capsules, injectables, liquid orals and ointment sections. The machine room is spacious with the available of rotary single punch tablet machine, coating pan, dissolution rate test apparatus, disintegration rate test apparatus, ampoule filling and sealing machine, bottle filling machine, sieve shaker, brookfield viscometer, humidity chamber, capsule filling machine, mechanical Stirrer, double cone blender, tray dryer and ointment filling machine. This laboratory provides a window for young and aspiring pharmacist to be well versed with the manufacturing aspect of different formulation in real time.

6. COMPUTER AND LANGUAGE LABORATORY

Keeping in view the increased emphasis on technology, the Innovative College has developed computer lab with Wi-Fi system. The lab is equipped with sufficient number of computers with the latest configuration and software. A well furnished digital language laboratory is established in the institute. As it is a technological aid for learning, it has a number of advanced facilities that can help a student to learn a language with proficiency to communicate. The Language lab is useful to enrich a student’s language learning experiences. It is very useful for assessing students’ speech. It provides students with the technical tools to get the best samples of pronunciation of the language. The electronic devices used in the laboratory will stimulate the eyes and ears of the learner to acquire the language quickly and easily. The laboratory’s collection is maintained to assist learners in the acquisition of reading and writing skills.

Library Services

In order to satisfy the user needs the library provides the following services.

 

  1. Computerized Library :Library is equipped with library automation software. It provides facility of online book search” title or author wise”. The cataloging & monitoring of issue -return is important feature.
  2. Reference Service : This section is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. except on Sundays and holidays. It has a copy of all the books procured by the library and it is for use within the library only.
  3. Borrowing Service : This section has a collection of all the textbooks and back volumes of periodicals. They are issued out of the library for a period of six days. The section is open from 8.30 a.m. to 4.45p.m.
  4. Reprographic Service : Photocopying services (Xerox) are provided on payment.
