Pharmacology deals with the basic knowledge of human anatomy, animal handling, scientific information regarding pharmacology of drugs, practical aspects of pharmacological screening for various medicinal agents using the animal model for pharmacology calculations, biological standardization, and in-vivo drug interactions and toxicity studies .The Department has a Pharamcology lab-1 (APHE Laboratory ) and Pharmacology Lab-2. Various minor experiments like Blood Group Detection, Haemoglobin Determination, W.B.0 and R.B.C. counting, determination of Blood Pressure are conducted. Students will also acquire knowledge about health education and first aid in case of emergency. The advanced pharmacology laboratory is specially designed to carry out animal model experiments for analgesic, antihistaminic, antipyretic, anti-hepatotoxic, anti-ulcer, anti-inflammatory activity testing of known and new drugs of chemical and herbal origin.
Pharmacology is one of the important subjects which deal with detailed study of drugs particularly their actions on living beings, organs or tissues. It includes allied topics like Pharmacodynamics, Pharmacokinetics, Therapeutics, Toxicology, Chemotherapy, Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacogcenomics and Clinical Pharmacy. Thus, Pharmacology is an important subject which connects pharmacy to medical sciences. Pharmacologists also teach other subjects like Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology. Pharmacology laboratory is well Furnished and equipped with modern instruments like plethysmometer, hot plate, actophotometer etc.
